Here at Mighty Engine, we’ve got a soft spot for creative types. The work we’re doing with Philadelphia’s Fleisher Art Memorial and, more recently, the Painted Bride Arts Center is both exciting and rewarding for us.
Matt Thompson, our new content associate, takes special interest in these projects. As an aspiring musician and writer, Matt believes that, when fully supported, the arts have the power to transform individuals and communities. However, he also understands the obstacles that many artists face in pursuing their dreams. That’s why he selected an organization called Small But Mighty to receive this week’s 52³ donation.
Small But Mighty is a brand new nonprofit which provides microgrants and resources for local artists. As a part of the Knight Arts Challenge, this organization helps artists to focus less on making ends meet and more on bringing their creative goals to fruition.
Before the good work can start, however, Small But Mighty has to raise some funds. They set a $30,000 dollar goal for Spring of 2013; as of right now, they’re just above $4,000. Best of luck, we say, from one Mighty to another!
