As a coach and a former college soccer star, Alex Shuptar, a senior associate here at Mighty Engine, can attest to the power that athletics has to catalyze social change. For this reason, he selected Back on My Feet to receive this week’s donation.
Back on My Feet is a national nonprofit that uses running as a means to build self-esteem, self-efficiency, and physical fitness among people experiencing homelessness. Alex discovered the organization through our work with the Philadelphia Marathon, and is always glad see their teams jogging down Kelly drive on his morning commute.
Back on My Feet has 9 teams in Philadelphia alone, and since it’s founding in 2007, they’ve helped 743 runners obtain employment and 519 runners acquire independent housing living.
